Perry Stone Founder, President and Race Director
Perry has done what no other human ever has and cycled around Australia in ultra-cycling style in three times. He has held numerous positions in the investment industry, the public relations field and in event development and management. He has written 100’s of articles about ultra-endurance cycling and was co-producer of the multi-award winning documentary Bicycle Dreams. His passion for ultra-endurance cycling led him to create our races.
George is the founder of the Race Across Oregon (RAO), the RAO Training Camp, the Deschutes River Valley Time Trial Stage Race, the Ring of Fire and the non-competitive Double Trouble 200k. He has also served as the Race Director for RAAM in 2011 & 2012
George also formed, “Over The Top Productions” which specializes in live race/event reporting and on-line broadcasts with a wide range of guests and endurance subjects.
Douglas is a leadership trainer and coach working throughout the world with business and organizations. Recently his work has included developing and delivering programs for MDI, Fiver Children’s Foundation and PENCIL. SEED Infotech and others. For 20 years Douglas Hoffman has served on the executive board of numerous companies and non-profit organizations. He is the current executive director and President of the largest ultra-cycling organization in the world today, the Ultra-Marathon Cycling Association (UMCA).
A passionate fundraising professional, with a wealth of experience gained from working with non-profit organizations across Europe, Asia and North America. Huda has a Master’s Degree in Global Ethics and the common thread that connects all aspects of her work is the collaborative approach she takes to reducing human suffering and enhancing quality of life. Drawn by her desire to eradicate cancer, a disease that knows no borders, Huda is committed to the Canadian Cancer Society’s vision to create a world where no one fears cancer.
Patrick is no stranger to fighting the odds and accomplishing the impossible. At birth he was given 3 days to live due to a Congenital Heart Defect. At age 16 he was performing bicycle rides 320 kilometers and longer. Patrick is a Team Captain for the American Diabetes Association National Team, Team Red and a Committee Member managing rider recruitment and fundraising efforts and acquiring sponsorships. Patrick is a Senior Consultant with the firm OrthopedicJobs.net, working as a consultant for orthopedic surgeons.
Kate is a graduate of Queen Margaret University College where she studied Public Relations and Media Communications. Kate has contributed to PR Campaigns for the Benghazi Gorilla Nature Reserve in the Congo, for Team Paramed, a British Super Bikes race team and the Engine Shed a working café for people with disabilities. Kate recently relocated from her hometown of Middlesbrough, UK to Vancouver and joined the Tour of BC as our Social Media Marketing Director. Her enthusiasm, energy and expertise are a great asset to our team.
Jason is one of the world’s most accomplished explorers. Jason travelled 74,840 kilometers over a span of 13 years without the aid of sails or motors to become the first and only person to circumnavigate the world using only human power. A Fellow of London University, the Royal Geographical Society, and The Explorers Club, he has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC), Good Morning America (ABC), and CBS This Morning. His book Dark Waters was selected as grand prize winner for the 2012 Southern California Book Festival Awards. The Daily Mail proclaimed him to be, “Arguably, the most remarkable adventurer in the world today.”
Stephen has developed, produced and directed several cycling documentaries including the multi-award winning Bicycle Dreams. His deep comprehension of the mechanics of ultra-endurance cyclists, their motivations and challenges makes him an ideal member for our team. His diverse production abilities range from the creative elements to the nuts and bolts. From fashioning budgets to writing scripts and from pitching in network offices to editing his own films, Auerbach is a creative dynamo that can meet any production challenge.
Mike Roark brings his 30 years of race officiating in ultra-endurance cycling events and numerous other sports to our team. Mike will be helping us draft our rule book and will assist in the recruitment and training of our race officials. His wealth of experience and practical knowledge will help us develop a safe and balanced environment for our competitors. A few of Mike’s experiences include: ’85-’95 Course Marshal, Ironman Kona, ’93-’95 Ironman Marshals Director. ’85-Present Race official, Race Across America. ’07-’11 Head Official, RAAM (also served in various capacities as: Women’s Race Director in the 80′s, Route Designer for 2 years & worked on race logistics with Race Director Michael Shermer.
Ron Penner Route Consultant and Mapping
Ron is an experienced randonneur and has cycled extensively in British Columbia and provides us with our routing, lapping and GPS coordinates. His love of cycling and compiled knowledge and experience make him a great contributor to our races.
Dave Arnold Australian Rider Recruitment Ambassador
Dave Arnold is the kind of “bloke” everyone likes, he pretty well insists upon it. He is a long-time fan and participant of ultra-endurance cycling in Australia where he is a life-long retail bicycle shop operator. Dave is assisting us in spreading the word to his Australian network about our races.
Steve Cochran Rider Registration Advisor
Steve is a lover of all things bike. From cruisers to road bikes to mountain bikes; if it’s got two wheels, Steve’s on it with a perma-grin. He joins the Tour of BC with a singular focus; to “see more people on bikes” and will be helping recruit riders and teams for the event. He has racing experience from his time managing a collegiate club team at Walla Walla University and will be using that experience to recruit Collegiate Cycling teams for the Tour.
